Ocober 3, 2024:

Thursday was the last day of our trip. We woke up to some rain, per usual, and ate breakfast at our hotel. The hotel had a continental breakfast in the lobby area. We hadn't had it yet, since we primarily had coffee and baked goods from the bakery next door every morning. The hotel breakfast was 18 euros (per person) so we didn't want to splurge everyday on it. The breakfast was really good. They had various meats, cheeses, hot foods, juices, bread, coffee, and tea.

After we ate, showered, and got ready we decided to hop on the Straßenbahn (street car) and went to a museum, since it was all rainy and cold out. We went to an archaeological museum and spent some time there.

This museum was very informative. They had sheets of paper with other languages too, so I could understand it and read about it.

Everything about this museum was so cool. They had a section in the basement with different jewels and lots of cool historical information. It's definitely a "you need to check it out for yourself" type of thing.

After the museum we walked around and took more pictures. We saw lots of great things and cool buildings, all in the rain.

I hadn't seen a Starbucks the whole time, but we finally went on a different part of the city so we saw one. I didn't try it, mainly because I was already caffeinated up from breakfast.

We had our last dinner in Germany later in the evening. We got turkish döners for lunch and then we packed our suitcases since we had to leave early Friday morning from our hotel for a long day of traveling home. We ate at the same restaurant that we got kaffee and kuchen (coffee and cake) from earlier on in our trip. It was a restaurant attached to a hotel. It was fancy. Thing is, waiters in Germany are just rude, mainly because they don't tip there, so we didn't have the most pleasant experience, but the food was pretty good.

I got some beef, cranberries and potatoes. I ate a LOT of potatoes and drank a lot of good wine and beer on the trip.

After our dinner, it was kind of late so we headed back to our hotel. We got cozy and went to bed decently early. Friday morning, we had to wake up early, eat our breakfast, take a street car to the train station, catch a double decker bus to Basel airport. Wait a while for our flight to Amsterdam, fly to Amsterdam and have to do extra security things because we are American, just barely catch our Amsterdam flight to Boston (6 hours later) yes I watched 3 movies. Then we got to Boston, had an hour long wait for our flight to Minneapolis--delayed of course. We FINALLY get to Minneapolis at 11pm, take a shuttle to Eau Claire at 12:35 am, and then Brady's mom picks us up from the shuttle station in Eau Claire after 2 am.....we get back home around 2:30 and hit the hay. THAT was the travel back.

It was a beautiful 2 week trip to Europe. We visited at least 3 countries, we primarily spent time in Germany, which was lovely. I enjoyed all the food, hearing people speak in a different language, drinking the good beer, and taking all the fun forms of public transportation. I know our honeymoon trip will forever be a special memory to both Brady and myself, but I hope we can travel internationally again in the future. Not everyone can travel to different countries at the drop of a hat, so we will have to save up and go somewhere special, maybe for an anniversary trip. There are still so many places I'd love to visit. Ireland, Greece, Paris, France, Italy, Australia, the list goes on!

Thanks for reading about my adventures, and will be writing again soon, mostly of local adventures here in Wisconsin. :) <3
