Day 7: September 25th, 2024- Day Trip to Switzerland!
I’m writing this on September 26, it’s rainy, cold, and a typical fall day in Germany. Brady just picked up breakfast, I had some yogurt, a multivitamin juice and a pretzel with cheese and ham on it—so good!!
Yesterday was quite the day. Brady and I did the Golden Round Trip in Lucerne, Switzerland. https://www.pilatus.ch/en/discover/golden-round-trip
“The Golden round trip takes you to the most spectacular spots on the Pilatus and to the summit by boat, cogwheel railway, aerial cableway and Panorama Gondolas.”
I have to admit, I was a little nervous, but once I did it I had fun. It was sooooo high up. After Brady and I grabbed lunch before our train went up, I just hopped in to the train, not realizing I was on the ledge side, ha, so I got the crazy views and it was wild seeing how high we were when looking down.
Waiting for the train!

I loved the ICE (they were 90mph trains!)

Finishing our postcards we sent to people.

This was the line waiting to get onto the boat for the Golden Round Trip .

Beautiful scenery in Switzerland.

Always capturing the pictures!

I had to get a matcha from a coffee shop before we boarded.

This is us on our boat to Lucerne, in Switzerland. It was a beautifully sunny day and so nice out, although chilly, but the sun was bright and the skies were blue.

It was so beautiful taking a boat ride all the way there.

It was such a cool boat ride, and when we got there, we ate lunch. :)

We got summer salads and beer, Prost!

That was the train up the mountain, the most steep cogwheel train in the world.

Going up!

I didn’t take too many pictures going up, but it was UNBELIEVABLE and pictures don’t do it justice. I was being friendly and asked the couple if they’d gone before and they said no, but they said they were from Chicago. We got an opportunity to tell them we were on our honeymoon. It was awesome! :)

SNOW!

We made it to the top!! So high up!! And there was snow!!

The Swiss Alps!

Like a postcard!

My handsome husband. :)
We were so high up, it's hard to describe how I felt. Tourists from all different types of countries were there.

Taking the gondalas back down, so fun!!

We got some souvenirs at the shop and then explored the city a little bit and got dinner.

We got dinner outside at a Swiss restaurant. Brady got a charcuterie board and I got Macoroni & Swiss Cheese and applesauce. We got local red wine from Lucerne. :)

We really enjoyed the scenery. We traveled all day and didn’t get back to Freiberg until later that night- lots of train travel! It was worth it. :) <3

Gotta love train travel!

These are the pics from the website of what our Golden Round Trip entailed.
First, the boat, second, the cogwheel train, and third, the gondalas down.
